The heavy duty 2 point hitch gives excellent manoeuvrability, reduced overall drill length and allows for fine depth control using the tractor linkage arms
The hydraulic fan has a very high efficiency rating and delivers high volume airflows for heavy sowing rates. The housing is pressed steel and powder coated for durability.
Fan speed is controlled hydraulically for varying rates. A speed sensor displays the fan RPM on the control screen.
An oil cooler mounted on the fan inlet cools the tractor's hydraulics and utilises the heat to warm air going to the seeder distribution heads to prevent moisture plugging. The oil cooler has an over pressure valve and pressure gauge and uses a specially designed aluminium matrix core and shroud to utilise 100% of the air going into the fan.
The airflow butterfly can be adjusted to increase airflows for heavy fertiliser rates or reduce airflows to eliminate seed bounce
Seed and fertiliser is metered into the high flow air stream as it passes through stainless steel venturis and then it's blown to the distributor heads. Calibration is incredibly easy with unimpeded access to the metering units from the ground.
We use Amazone metering units with interchangeable cartridges for different products and sowing rates. The cartridges are assembled in slices which can be reconfigured by you with different lobe layouts to suit your applications.
The metering units are powered with 12V DC brushed motors through a reduction gearbox. This provides smooth variable speed control with loads of torque for heavy sowing rates, and fine control for low rates below 1kg/hectare
Control electronics are sealed in an IP67 rated enclosure for weather tightness, and mounted for easy maintenance access
Twin seed distribution towers are mounted behind the hoppers and sit above the toolbars for unrestricted flow to the tine coulters. This limits blockages and provides consistent and accurate planting.
We use Smallaire air seeder distribution heads with smooth airflow designs for optimum performance and efficiency
The twin polyethylene hoppers are robust and durable. Each hopper has a large opening for filling with groupers, bulk bags or small bags. The hopper capacities are 1500L (front) and 2000L (rear)
Each hopper has a canvas cover and a removable mesh screen to filter out bag tickets and lumps of fertiliser or seed.
Access to the hoppers is easy and convenient with a heavy duty sliding walkway. The rear walkway section slides forward to make space for the folded wings in transport mode.
Seed and fertiliser can be isolated from the metering units with a slide at the base of the hopper. This gives access to clear blockages or change metering cartridges with emptying the hopper.
Optional 400mm turbo tilth opening discs are invaluable for direct drilling. They aggressively cut through heavy trash and hard ground. Down force is with maintenance free Duratorque suspension arms.
The opening discs depth is quickly set hydraulically. We use trunnion rams so the depth stop collars are always compressed when the discs are in the ground. This means that the ram positions can't creep out of adjustment.
25 mm spring-steel coil tines with inverted-tee Baker Boot tips create a fine-tilth seed slot for optimal germination. The Nihard boots feature tungsten tiles on the leading edge for exceptional wear. Twin drop tubes place seed and fertiliser into the formed slot, with a stainless-steel fertiliser tube for superior corrosion resistance
Sowing depth is adjusted by raising or lowering the transport and wing wheel sets. The is done with hydraulic rams and set using stop collars.
Optional rear tine harrows sweep loose soil left and right as they pass over the seed bed, closing the slots to help with germination. The harrow frames lift when the drill is out of the ground, so it's easy to back into corners
Technology
25mm Coil Spring Tines and Inverted Tee Boots
25mm Coil Tine
The tine has minimal sideways movement so that it tracks straight and it will follow an opening disc.
The tine pulls backwards considerably before it lifts up out of the ground, so it is not placing seed on top of the ground.
Made from solid spring steel with no drilled holes to weaken it, so it’s very durable with minimal breakages.
Staggered tine mounting layout to assist trash flow.
Inverted Tee Baker Boot
The Baker Boot is a wear resistant cast part which easily replaceable as needed.
The tungsten carbide leading edge has a positive rake angle on the point to penetrate the ground and open up a slot.
The seed and fertiliser are placed at different depths for optimum germination. Generally the fertiliser is dropped below the seed for best results.
The wings and heel of the boot create a cavity containing all of the key ingredients being seed, fertiliser, moisture, air and loose soil which is ideal for fast germination and rapid root development.
Touchscreen Electric Drive
All AST drills have high torque electric drives and a touchscreen electronic rate control. This advanced system is simple to use and gives the user instant feedback about the operating state of the drill.
Packed with features, including:
* Precision and flexibility to vary planting rates electronically
* Fingertip calibration adjustments
* Includes touch-screen control for turning planting on and off
* Checks drilling rates and areas planted in real time
* Connects wirelessly to the Duncan calibration app
* High torque electric motor drives and reduction gearboxes
* Visual and audible warnings of drilling rates and bin levels
* Coverage mapping, record keeping and proof of planting
* Transfer job data between the field and the office using a USB port
Easily upgraded to ISOBUS with the addition of an optional ISOPOD to the standard control system.
Calibration App
No more fumbling through manuals or using the tractor's in-cab controller.
Use the Duncan Seed Drill app on your phone for easy and accurate job configuration and calibration of your Duncan Renovator AST drill and take your drilling operations to the next level of productivity.
The Duncan seed drill app contains step-by-step user guides for making calibration and mechanical adjustments to your drill. Great for any new operator or if you're just a bit rusty yourself!
You can get every operator set up with it too so they can do calibrations from their own phone.
Connect wirelessly to the Duncan E-Drive system to set up the sowing rates and run calibrations while you are right beside the drill, saving time and multiple trips back to the tractor.
